Sansho Pepper Chili Oil
Made in Okayama, Japan
Description:
This chili oil is made using chili peppers from Okayama Prefecture, domestically grown Sichuan peppercorns, and sunflower oil extracted from sunflower seeds. The packaging design is inspired by the Komainu (guardian lion-dog) statues perched atop the roof of the Hirokane residence in Fukiya, which guards the estate. Inside, you'll find a crisp, refreshing chili oil made with sunflower oil.
To create a more impactful flavor, we’ve added Sichuan peppercorns, giving the oil a tingling, spicy sensation. This chili oil is perfect for use with dumplings, shumai, ramen, and steamed chicken. It packs quite a spicy punch, so it’s recommended for those who enjoy bold, spicy flavors.
The new batch from June 2024 features a fresh, aromatic flavor made with fresh green Sansho peppercorns, giving the oil a vibrant, refreshing scent. After summer, we’ll switch to using dried Sansho peppercorns, creating a stronger numbing, spicy sensation—also worth trying!
